Birdley James Elected to Sustainable Green Printing Board of Directors

ATLANTA, Dec. 16, 2021 — Miller Zell’s Birdley James was elected Thursday to a seat on the Board of Directors of the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), the leading authority in sustainable printing certifications for print manufacturers.

James will become Miller Zell’s SGP/Employee Health & Wellness coordinator and Compliance Manager in 2022 after leading our sustainability and health & safety programs over the past year while maintaining his press supervisor role.

With James’ election, Miller Zell becomes the only printing company with a board member.

“Having the opportunity to serve Miller Zell and the SGP partnership in such a capacity is a true honor,” James said. “Miller Zell wants to lead and support environmental and sustainability efforts and initiatives and to stand as an example of what it means to be vested in our community and planet.”

Miller Zell, a branded environments solutions company and a leading provider of screen and digital-based printing, is one of just 61 companies in the nation to earn SGP certification, which certifies a printing facility’s operations as sustainable.

James will be leading Miller Zell’s sustainability efforts and expanded recycling initiatives, as well as overseeing our sustainability program compliance, SGP certification requirements, environmental & safety compliance audits, environmental safety processes & procedures and our safety training.

He said one of many important initiatives for 2022 and beyond is to reduce the impact on landfill by five percent annually. The approach will be by prevention first and recycling as a secondary solution.

“We will keep challenging ourselves each year with the ultimate goal of 0% landfill submissions in the future,” James said. “We owe this to our clients, to our community and, most important, our planet!”
