Citizens asked Miller Zell to provide a full-scale redesign of an existing in-store supermarket branch. They wanted to reinvigorate the experience to support a smaller hybrid footprint that offered space for easy banker consultation while supporting typical transactional traffic. The design needed to convey a deliberate departure from the expected branch layout of teller-counter barriers and closed-door offices.
Miller Zell’s design team created a contemporary, inviting, on-brand environment. A portal in Citizens Green frames the branch and differentiates it from the greater supermarket environment. The daisy wheel is a recognizable and effective navigation super graphic, and semi-private advisory booths provide customer comfort. Key brand moments are expressed using a mix of high-gloss surfacing for the ATM, backlit graphic and dynamic digital content.
Our design focused on exceptional branding and purposeful design. Supermarket shoppers expressed delight as they turned the corner to see the unexpected branch design, while branch colleagues expressed pride and a sense of ownership of their new space. Through the redesign, Citizens unveiled to shoppers not only a new aesthetic but also an appealing new way to interact with a bank.
