ATLANTA, GA, Nov. 12, 2020 – Miller Zell’s Gina Strickland earned finalist honors in the 2020 CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Awards “Corporate” category as presented by GeorgiaCIO.
The CIO of the Year ORBIE Award is the premier technology executive recognition program in the U.S.
“While we are very proud that Gina has been so honored, we are not surprised,” Miller Zell president Paul Papantonis said. “Since she became CIO for Miller Zell in 2015, she has skillfully led her team and benefited our company with her strategic understanding of the rapidly evolving technology in our business.”
Since the award’s creation in 1998, over 1,200 CIOs have been honored as finalists, and over 300 CIO of the Year winners have received the prestigious ORBIE Award. The ORBIE honors chief information officers who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.
Finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients, based on: 1. Leadership and management effectiveness; 2. Business value created by technology innovation; 3. Engagement in industry and community endeavors.
“It means a lot to know that I have that support at Miller Zell, and that keeps me going through challenging projects,” Strickland said. “There were a lot of very talented leaders who participated in this event, and it was an honor to be included in that. I always appreciate an opportunity to talk about what we do at Miller Zell and our great culture.”
Strickland is responsible for IT, application support, security and compliance departments at Miller Zell. She guided the creation and execution of an IT vision and strategic plan that includes technical innovation and building a strong team.
Her efforts notably helped Miller Zell become strategically and logistically prepared for the COVID-19 outbreak, nimbly responding to a remote workforce and to client business continuity needs.
