Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, and a longtime Miller Zell client wanted to upgrade the customer experience in its meat department. That required a collaborative partnership to understand the client’s design and strategy needs in order for it to be executable, scalable, and cost-effective. Then we needed to implement and install in 4,200 stores in one year.
We value engineered the project and then traveled to stores and performed surveys, reviewing architectural drawings/photos to meet the needs of a diversity of store footprints. We oversaw all the printing and print management. We combined POS signage and structural signage as a cohesive kit package, developing various sized packages to work for different stores. Project managers oversaw each installation and served as quality control reps.
After presenting Walmart with three different solutions to accomplish the design aesthetic, Miller Zell implemented the program in all 3,500 Super Centers and 700 Neighborhood Markets in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It transformed the experience in the meat department. Walmart informed our project management team the partnership had been “wildly successful.”
